Poetry: October

October

October,

rising

falling

flaming

leaves on fire

trees waving

in the sharp fresh cold wind.

Wind blows colorful leaves down

into an ice cold stream.

Two gentle deer, running away from the wind

in the tall grass

toward home.

Four children walk

back from school

Talking voices

combine with the rushing stream

to create

a perfect harmony

of October.

Flash forward,

to the end

of October.

Spooky faces

delight the dark

children playing

dress up.

And the four children

all in costumes,

parade down the street

baskets of candy in their hands

towards November.
