Traveling With Kids and Entertainment

When you are in the car or on a plane or in a hotel, then you are generally pretty bored. You can’t pack your Legos, you can’t pack your Playmobil, and you can’t pack all of your stuffed animals. So what do you pack?

You pack everything you need–basically clothes and toiletries. But you also need entertainment.

A lot of people pack electronics for entertainment, and download a whole bunch of games. I don’t think that it is a good idea to just play some game on an electronic for the whole flight or drive–which can be really long. I think that using electronics for entertainment is okay for some situations–but not all the time. You should unplug for a little while, just to take a break.

What do you use instead of electronics for entertainment then?

Well, there are actually a lot of things you could do. You could draw pictures or write notes with post its, or you could play with some Wikki Stix, or you could bring some play silks to play fairies. You could even write a play, which I did with my siblings when I was in Scotland two years ago. One thing that my parents did when I was little was my mom would bring a Toob, and when we were good we would earn a toy from the Toob. You could also create little craft kits or bring a small craft kit for each person–just for an emergency. Just make sure you hide prizes and emergency items very well–kids can find things pretty well!

About Me

Hi! I’m Emma! I love to bake, eat (anything gluten free that doesn’t taste like cardboard), craft, write, play cello, sing, do calligraphy and play with my dog, Cali (She’s on Instagram now!) Yeah, my bedroom is also actually the cupboard under the stairs, just like Harry Potter 🙂
